Bypassing zones on your DSC PowerSeries Neo alarm system lets you temporarily disable selected sensors so you can arm your system even if a door, window, or other zone is open or being serviced. This feature is especially useful when a zone is malfunctioning or you need access to a protected area while the rest of the system remains armed.
What “Zone Bypass” Means
When you bypass a zone, the alarm panel will ignore activity from that specific sensor during the next arming cycle. Bypassed zones won’t trigger alarms until they are restored or the system is disarmed.
Step-by-Step: How to Bypass Zones (LCD Keypad)
- Disarm the system.
Zone bypassing cannot be done while the system is armed. - Press the
*key to open the function menu. - Select “Zone Bypass.”
Depending on your programming, you may need to press1or scroll to the option. - Enter your access code if required by system settings.
- Choose the zone(s) you want to bypass.
- Scroll to the zone name or enter the three-digit zone number.
- Press
*to bypass.
A “B” appears next to the zone, indicating it’s bypassed.
- Exit to the home screen by pressing
#until you’re back to Ready status. - Arm the system normally.
Only the zones you bypassed will be ignored during arming.
Important Notes
- Bypasses are temporary. Once the system is disarmed, bypassed zones are automatically cleared and must be set again if needed.
- If a zone is open and blocking arming, bypassing lets you arm without securing that zone first.
- For security reasons, certain zones (e.g., smoke detectors) may be restricted from bypassing depending on installer programming.
